Rules
1. Play nice.
First and foremost this is a game, we're all here because we love to write, play, make friends or just escape reality for awhile, and games are never fun when people kick up drama. We urge you to try to sort out any differences you have by talking to the other player and basically acting like adults. Yes, this is hard for us, we know. But do try.
Harassing or badmouthing other players will not be tolerated. If you don't like the way a person plays, don't play off them. Anyone caught trying to stir up drama will be given a warning, a second offense will result in a probationary period of one month, during which, if a third offense is committed, the offender will be banned. Three strikes and you're out. If the probationary period passes without further mishap a clean slate it is for you.
2. Communicate!
If any questions or issues arise, feel free to contact the mods at any time. Or better yet, ask the other players for help! We don't bite, unless you like it like that~
3. Be IC.
If a player gets enough crit for OOCness that is backed and supported by canon and has gotten crit and complaints repeated times, they will not be reprimanded with any formal reprimands, but they may be asked to drop the character by the mods. This is a very rare thing, and only for extreme cases of OOCness.
4. Censor yourself.
Language: This is a grey area. Some characters curse like sailors while others are pure as the driven snow. As long as it's IC it's okay with us. All we ask is a warning in the subject line if the original post is going to contain copious amounts of swearing. Within the comments, feel free, type "fuck" or "f@%#!"
Violence: Have at! The Marvel Universe is a dangerous one, specially with superheroes and villains running around willy nilly. People are going to get hurt, often very badly. All we ask is that you not go overboard. Yes, we love details, but describing the minute intricacies of gouging out someone's eyeball for three paragraphs may put us off our lunch, not to mention make you come off as something of a sociopath.
As for trigger issues such as suicide, sexual abuse, rape, cutting, etc. We hope we don't see those overdone, but if they do show up, 1) test the waters and make sure what you're planning won't upset someone who would have to deal with it because of character relationships between your and their characters, and 2) Cuts and warnings.
Sex: Again, sex does happen. In deference to any younger players, please post a warning in the subject line of the comment from which the porning stars. Something like "Warning: Sex Ahead" or "Avert Your Eyes Kids!" would be sufficient. We should know where your thread is going by that point anyway. Do be reminded however, that this is not a sex game.
5. Don't change the setting in major ways without asking the mods.
On the whole, the community is set within a version of Marvel's Earth-616. As such there will be landmarks such as Avengers Tower, the Baxter Building and so on as well as real world buildings such as the White House. Please check with us if you plan to do anything drastic to these locales.
6. Activity Check.
We have a bi-monthly activity check, that is tagged with the activity checks tag. It is left open for a week. Instructions for the Activity check are on the posts, but in essence you only need to make activity for half of your characters every two months, and it can be in the form of two threads with eight comments each from you, three threads with five comments each from you, or a total of fifteen comments on a thread that is not your own.
Players that miss the activity check will be emailed and given a week to respond to that email. If there are extenuating circumstances, of course we'll let the player be, and arrange for a hiatus, but if not, or if we are not emailed back by the player within a week from the email, the character will be freed for apping.
Players that have entered the game very near the activity check do not have to comment. Players who have announced a hiatus are exempt from having to comment to the activity check.
7. Write in any style you like except for action-spam.
We're not particularly strict on this, so write in present, past, whatever you want so long as it's legible. However, do not use brackets or *asterisks to indicate actions* or other ways of action-spamming.
8. IC =/= OOC
IC actions have IC consequences and OOC actions have OOC consequences. The two should never cross. Please do not use your character to hate on another player vicariously through their character. If you are unsure how your actions are being taken, ask. If you feel that the IC/OOC barrier has been breached, bring it to the attention of the mods in an email or PM, with a link to the offending thread for use to determine if this is so.
9. Don't godmode
Don't do it without permission. You can god someone if you've gotten permission, like for a quick action, but make sure you asked and make sure the other person is cool with what exactly you're doing/the end result.
10. Chat is to be a mellow place.
There is a daily/nightly chat on AIM, for tagging, plotting, and goofing around, that you can self-invite to or ask a mod or fellow player to be invited to: mightymarvelmansion. It makes it easier to get a lot of details for any plots worked out, as well as just being a fun place to hang out and relax with the guys even if you aren't currently in any scenes. Please keep wank out of OOC chat and no porny links. NSFW if not too porny is acceptable, but please warn us first.
14. NEVAR FORGET.
Though it's impossible to be wank-free, we want this game to be something of a haven for somewhat dorky, laid back people that just want to pretend to be their favourite superhero (or supervillain if you swing that way). So the last rule is: No matter how srs bizness the plots get, always remember why you're here.
To have fun together.
